At this point I automatically assume that anything Sarah Bailey writes is going to be golden. She’s never done me wrong yet, why would she start now?
I was privileged enough to get an advanced copy of the newest book in Bailey’s Villetti Chronicles series ahead of its release, and I have read it twice over since then because it was THAT GOOD. This is basically going to be known in my home library as “the book that got me through my bout with Covid”.

Arlo and Rina were magical together. They were basically every bookworm’s dream romantic couple – the shy, quiet introvert who wants nothing more than to escape in her fantasies, and the brooding, protective beast who keeps her safe and indulges her every whim. I feel as though SB basically took the thoughts right out of my head and drew up characters that I’ve always wanted to be a part of.
The story had great pacing and things moved along while also devoting proper time to character development. I love what SB does with the dark universe in that the books are connected (we get a few glimpses of Daddy Zayn and Ari) but it really feels like a standalone entry and not a sequel. And the sexy times – Lord help me, Sarah Bailey always manages to find new and creative ways to make me lust and blush.
This book is a must-read for existing Sarah Bailey fans, and for anyone who is looking for a quick, dirty, quirky novella.
Quick Thoughts:
- I want a book loft, too, but I was always worried about the safety of Rina’s bed when Arlo was getting busy. Something is going to need to be reinforced there.
